Since June of 2007, when importing wires and cables into the European Union, manufacturers must ensure that the wires and cables they manufactured and subsequently imported in to the EU is REACH compliant. REACH is an abbreviation of Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. It is a EU directive that mandates the stringent monitoring and inspection of chemical substances being brought within EU territories. The REACH directive aims to ensure that all parties involved are cognizant of the environmental implications of the products they use, thereby clearly delineating the responsibilities of the manufacturers and suppliers. In line with this, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) releases a testing data about certain substances and their associated risks. Corollary to this, the ECHA will then release a statement stating whether certain substances should remain in use.
Shonsin Cable proactively ensures our customers that our cables are manufactured with REACH compliance in mind. We view such compliance with this new directive as a vital part of our extensive risk management policy which embraces environmental protection and the promotion of public safety as a top priority. In sum, the importance of curbing the use of hazardous chemicals in our wires and cables are paramount. Hence, we at Shonsin Cable continuously and painstakingly take the essential processes in order to comply with the changing REACH requirement with regards to wire and cable products.
